The Strada Stretta Concept presents 'Ugly Beauty: Sandro Zerafa plays the music of Thelonious Monk', in collaboration with Valletta 2018 Foundation and under the artistic direction of Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci.
Thelonious Monk was one of the pioneers of be-bop and one of the most influential figures in the 20th century. Together with Bud Powell, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, he helped reshape modern jazz. An iconoclast, an eccentric and an innovator, Monk and his angular compositions epitomize the sound of modern jazz. Sandro Zerafa, a Maltese guitarist residing in Paris will team up with local bass player Oliver Degabriele and French drummer Lionel Boccara in an homage to this unique figure in 20th century music.
Date: 2nd October 2015
Time: 2030hrs
Venue: Strait Street, between Old Theatre and Archbishop Str. (Near Splendid)
Event is FREE of charge.
