The Winter`s Tale – Live from London`s Royal Opera House

Showing live via Satellite at the Eden Cinemas is The Winter’s Tale, a ballet which tells Shakespeare’s beautiful story through movement. Following his delightful full-length ballet Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Choreographer Christopher Wheeldon continues his highly successful collaboration with designer Bob Crowley and composer Joby Talbot to create his first Shakespearean ballet which features six principal dancers from The Royal Ballet.

The story follows the destruction of marriage through unexplained jealousy, the tragic abandonment of a child, and a seemingly hopeless love. Yet through remorse and regret the ending is one of forgiveness and reconciliation. Powerful material for a ballet, the story allows for the portrayal of intense emotions between and within the characters, and also an opportunity for the Royal Ballet to create not just new central characters but the whole world around them.

Eden Cinemas continues to enhance the experience of this magnificent ballet through dimmed theatre lighting and amplified sound which gives audiences that real feel of the Royal Opera House. Showing in Eden Cinemas’ multipurpose theatre, choreographer Christopher Wheeldon guarantees a most spectacular of performances as he infuses poetry into movement and not just the plot line. For all this, audiences pay just a fraction of that charged overseas for theatre tickets.

Tickets for The Winter’s Tale are being sold at €23 for adults and €10 for individuals under the age of 16. Making the evening a night to remember, the audience is offered a complimentary glass of wine, complimentary parking and a 25% discount at Waterbiscuit upon presentation of their ticket. Marco Spada will be showing live via satellite from the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Showing exclusively at the Eden Cinemas, this extraordinary ballet has only recently been added to the Bolshoi repertoire. Re-created specifically for the world renowned theatre company by French choreographer Pierre Lacotte, Marco Spada is a fresh and original ballet that includes scenes of pantomime, devilish intrigue, rejected suitors, kidnapping heroines, rebellion, and love misunderstandings.

This spectacular ballet is both grandiose and unique, on a technical as well as dramatic level. The complex choreography incorporates five lead roles created for five principals and also features nearly all of the Corps de ballet. Also, with several changes in scenery as well as the presence of animals on the grand stage of the Bolshoi, the ballet is truly an experience in itself.

Bringing this joyful ballet to life, as well as giving the audience that authentic feel of the Bolshoi Theatre, Eden Cinemas continues to enhance the experience through dimmed theatre lighting and amplified sound. Showing in Eden Cinemas’ multipurpose theatre, the movement and expression of each dancer is beautifully captured and takes each emotion to a whole new level. Guaranteed to be a marvellous evening, individuals pay just a fraction of that charged overseas for theatre tickets.

What you Will - A Sea Dog`s Tale

Based on Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare

"Where do you get your ideas?" is a question that most authors get asked during their career.  What if someone had asked the same question to William Shakespeare?  Where did he get his ideas from?  His plays have an incredible range for a glove-maker's son from Stratford-Upon-Avon, an issue that has long been contended.  This play does not try to answer the authorship debate, but it does explore one possible answer to the question of his inspiration.

Young Will Shakespeare tries to convince a band of Sea Dogs to let him sail away with them, and in the course of an evening he is told a tale of love and intrigue, disguise and song, dukes and fools, shipwrecks and plots. Using ropes, barrels, storytelling, shadow-theatre and anything else that comes to hand, the actors will conjure the audience into the heart of a storm where twins are torn asunder and shipwrecked sailors are tossed upon a foreign shore.  This captivating and imaginative retelling of Twelfth Night is sure to enthrall and entertain audiences with its dynamic representation.

Dazzle Troupe brings you - The Burlesque Inquisition

From the madcap team that brought you 'Burlesque Blitz' and a number of other Burlesque shows you may have caught on the island (or rather, that your friends caught and then made you feel bad for missing) comes yet another night of raunchy high-concept tomfoolery, this time traveling all the way back in time to the Middle Ages (or is that the Renaissance? You'll forgive us for the historical discrepancy - we never really were sticklers for this sort of thing)!

Taking place at the highly 'evocative' venue of the Knigret Knight Club in Rabat, the Dazzle Troupe brings you 'The Burlesque Inquisition' - a show that does what it says on the tin. Actually no, it doesn't. Nobody is getting executed. Or are they?

Picture the scene: a 'holy men' are charged with judging a group of heretics. Will they forgive their sins, or consign them to hell by auto-da-fe (that's 'human matchstick' for those not in the know).

The heretics will dance, sing, and BE FUNNY for their supper (or rather, their life), while you can sit back and enjoy the show.

The Dazzle Troupe always says this, but it's always true: the show will be different, dark and ultimately hilarious. We take your entertainment seriously, but that doesn't mean we're serious.

Performers on the night include: Alex Vella Gregory, Joseph Zammit, Vee Stivala, Teodor Reljic, What's their names Theatre, Becky D'Ugo, Miriam Calleja, Marie Claire Pellegrini, Marie Claire Camilleri, Kevin Canter, Sarah Lanzon, Rambert Attard, Joe Depasquale and Yannick Massa

Tickets at 15 euros can be purchased by logging on to www.creativeisland.com.mt
